2.Evaluation of lesson plan
A.Identify one lesson plan from your content area/concentration. You may use other website or speak with teachers to obtain lesson plan.
B. Briefly describe the lesson plan.
I think the “Lesson Plan Title : Main Idea” is an example of a Five-step Lesson Plan. The Five-step Lesson Plan is a form of daily lesson planning where it includes these components- anticipatory set, instruction, guided practice, closure or assessment and independent practice. this lesson plan it is brief and concise. It is not lengthy compared to other lesson plans but the things that we need in conducting the lesson are here. This is a good lesson plan for a strategic teacher since the details here are only guide on the things and tasks you need to obtain.
The first step of this lesson plan is the Anticipatory set- the part where the objectives are noted. The stated objective is written in a student-friendly form that makes the teacher easily convey it to the class. The expectations are specific, it is measurable and it describe learning thus I can consider it as a good objective statements.
For the instruction step, the teacher shows the list of resources that she will use in direct teaching. these keywords in the plan could be the vocabularies present in their lessons and an introduction that can stir the mind of the students. This is nice in checking students knowledge in dealing with the lesson that they will take.
The third step is guided practice, in this plan the activity instruction is direct and simple to understand. Included in this instruction is the consumable time for the students to do it. The activity stated can be good for individual or group, it will just depend on the teacher on how she will facilitate the learning in this activity.
This is followed by the Guided Practice or wrap up, where activity is given to help the teacher get the gist of what the students learned today. And on this point we can say that the Independent Practice step is completed in the class, it is combined with the Guided Practice; however the independent practice independent practice is the place the teacher lists any homework assignments students will be expected to complete related to that day’s lesson.
C.Identify the extent to which the lesson plan integrates technology.
Its hard to look at how much the lesson plan integrates technology on this lesson plan since it has only the details on subject matter. But, as I deeply think about to what extent this is in using the digital technology, I guess it is maximized since they will use their AR Book in their activity. The ‘Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program that schools may use to monitor reading practice and progress. It helps teachers guide kids to books that are on kids’ individual reading levels.Kids take short quizzes after reading a book to check if they’ve understood it.'(Peg Rosen writes for digital and print, including ParentCenter, WebMD, Parents, Good Housekeeping and Martha Stewart. Elizabeth Babbin, M.Ed., is the instructional support teacher at Lower Macungie Middle School in Macungie, Pennsylvania.)
D.Provide one suggestion for improving the lesson plan to better facilitate learning.
I observed that the lesson plan is concise and specific on the subject matter for the present class. But I think it is also good for a lesson plan to have an independent practice on the lessons that they had. By doing so, teachers may check how much learnings have retained on the students, and as per the students, it is beneficial for them to asses on themselves how well they know the lessons, with this, students may tend to individually learn on the the things they are having a hard time understanding and review the materials and be individually responsible on their educational process.
E.Provide one suggestion for integrating technology to better facilitate learning.
It is on the wrap up of this lesson plan that the students need to read an excerpt. Aside from reading it, I think it is also better to have a video presentation of the excerpt. With this we can integrate technology more in students’ learning, moreover viewing increases students motivation because of the animations and the sound effects presented and learning is enhanced since the visual and auditory senses are used.
